A Dark Horse I love : Charlize Theron

I loved Charlize in her role of Furiosa and she has seriously being over looked in the pre Oscar awards so far. Now,  The Wrap is bringing some deserved spotlight  to her in their section "Dark Horses We Love" :

" “When I first read it, I knew it was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime type situation,” said Theron, whose character—hair cut down to stubble, axle grease smeared across her forehead and a mechanized prosthetic arm taking the place of a healthy limb she lost—manages to steal Mad Max out from under Tom Hardy’s title character. “I am a huge fan of George Miller, because he’s one of those top-tier filmmakers that have set the bar in so many ways. And she was such an unusual character—she was an antihero, she had an arm missing but you never know how it happened… I mean, that shit just doesn’t come along.”"

"The Warner Bros. tentpole, which has grossed $375 million worldwide, not only landed best picture prize from last week’s National Board of Review, it was the runner-up pick (after “Spotlight”) for best film of the year by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. More importantly, on Thursday morning, it popped up on the Golden Globes’ list for best picture drama (edging out the Fox Searchlight favorite “Brooklyn”) and George Miller grabbed a best director nod (over such heavyweights as Steven Spielberg for “Bridge of Spies” and Quentin Tarantino for “Hateful Eight”)."

George Miller : Why His Mad Max Fury Road Deserves These Oscar Nominations

Kyle Buchanan from Vulture sat down with Miller in Los Angeles and asked him to make his case for why his talented cast and crew warrant recognition in some of those key nominations. Below the excerpt related to best director and picture:

" Miller developed Fury Road for nearly two decades, and several false starts delayed production until 2011. “It was a very, very long labor, and it gets quite intense at the very end because you’re working long hours and it doesn’t come without pain,” he said. “When you start getting some feedback back, you think, Oh, wow. All the stuff we hoped was there, seems to be there. And it’s palpable enough that people are really, really getting into it. You don’t know if it’ll have any resonance, but when you see people doing fan art of such a high order or doing cosplay so imaginatively with such wit…” Miller trailed off, grinning, as he remembered a Japanese critic whose passion for the film bordered on the fanatical.

“He told me that he’d read all this stuff into it — and it is, after all, an allegory, so it’s in the eye of the beholder — and I said, ‘Did you get all that from one viewing of the movie?’ And he said, ‘No, no. I walked out of the cinema, I thought about it, and I went straight back into the cinema and asked the distributor if I could see it again.’ And then he took me aside and pulled open his shirt, and he had the Immortan’s little branding symbol tattooed on him!” Miller laughed. “I thought, Oh my God, I hope this movie lasts long enough to justify the tattoo!” 

That, ultimately, is why this awards-season leg has been so fruitful for Miller. “You work very hard in the tunnel of the movie you’re making, and then you emerge and put some effort out there, but when you get home and now there’s all this new stuff coming back at you, it’s one of the greatest delights,” he told me. There’s nothing more gratifying for Miller than to have people realize that there’s more to Mad Max than meets the eye. “You can see it on the surface,” he said, “but we tried to put a lot of iceberg under the tip.” "

Mad Max Fury Road won 8 AACTA awards: Best Movie, best Director (George Miller) , best cinematography (John Seale) , editing (Margaret Sixel) , production design (Colin Gibson), original music score (Junkie XL), sound and visual effects.

The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards are a continuum of the AFI Awards, which have honoured screen excellence in Australia since 1958. The AACTA Awards are Australia's equivalent of the Oscars and the BAFTAs.

The National Board Review  which has not commercial ties to the film industry and has over 100 members (voters) composed not only of critics but also select knowledgeable professional, teachers, historian and students selected Mad Max Fury Road as the best film of 2015 from  over 250 films (studio, independent, foreign-language, animated and documentary ) .

For over 106 years the board which is physically located in New York (US) has dedicated its effor to the support of film, domestic and foreign as both art and entertainment and  gives awards since 1929.

Mad Max Game is Great and a lot of Fun to Play!

This game based on the Mad Max franchise, developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. it was developed on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2015. Feral Interactive published the game's for macOS and Linux versions.

I played on Windows in my laptop and using the keyboard ( no a Xbox controller) and it was a lot of fun. I highly recommend it!

"As the most visually astounding movie of the year, there’s little doubt that Mad Max: Fury Road will receive recognition for its cinematography, sound, editing, and special effects come Oscar time. A few technical nominations is the very least George Miller’s magnum opus deserves. However, in a perfect world, Mad Max: Fury Road would be nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress (Charlize Theron). Alas, the Academy is unlikely to recognise the film for one solitary reason: it’s an action picture. On the surface, Mad Max: Fury Road may seem like one giant car chase of epic preparations. On that basis, it’s easily one of the most enthralling, inventive, and unique chase movies of all time. What elevates the film to a whole new frontier, however, is the surprising depth of its narrative. Behind the nonstop insanity, there’s an astonishing amount of backstory and character development. Rather than hitting us over the head with plot details, though, Fury Road allows the audience to draw their own conclusions. In many respects, this is exactly what an action movie should do. The plot can be beyond simplistic and the action can be relentless, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still trigger a strong emotional response and make the audience think. George Miller has accomplished what so many other action directors like Michael Bay have failed to do. He has found the perfect balance in a perfect action picture. The Best Picture category isn’t called “Best Drama Picture.” It’s called “Best Picture.” This means that that the race should extend to call genres that break new grounds, ranging from animation, to comedy, to action. Mad Max: Fury Road isn’t just the best action movie of the year (although we still need to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens), it’s one best films in general and deserves to be recognised as such."

"When I looked at the storyboards before, I relished the idea of playing an amputee and hero. I was like, this is not going to come around anytime again. In the ultimate hardcore action film they're going to make the female lead be an amputee? This is … great. Now the responses coming back have been so — I can get choked up. I get so many emails from — not just young girls but amputees, not just women, just people, saying it's about time that we see more of this. Selfishly, I didn't think about that. I wasn't on some high horse. I knew that it would be a great thing for me to utilize as an actor."
