Tom Hardy Confirms ‘Mad Max: The Wasteland’ Is Still Happening - Collider

Tom Hardy told Collider  while being interviewed on his new FX series Taboo: "’m anxiously waiting to find out. There’s mythology to do with Mad Max that spans copious amounts of tales. What’s wonderful about George [Miller] is that he’s created sagas for Max and sagas for Furiosa, so it’s what he chooses to focus in on. I’m really just waiting for the call like, “All right, let’s get the leathers on and get back out there and do some more.” It’s there. I’m just waiting for it and looking forward to it." Mad Max prequel coming to Australia: Page 13

"FUEL up! The next Mad Max is returning to Australia for the latest instalment of the dystopian juggernaut.
The prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road starring TOM HARDY will be filmed in and around Broken Hill. Director GEORGE MILLER is known for keeping any developments with his projects closely guarded secrets, but Herald Sun: Page 13 has the inside scoop from a highly placed onset source.
Pre-production is gearing up on the multi-million-dollar action-packed Warner Bros franchise, with NSW’s Broken Hill Studios Miller’s first choice for shooting, which could start as soon as later this year."

Writer/director George Miller worked as an emergency room doctor in Sydney, Australia, and based parts of Mad Max on the injuries he saw and treated. The area of rural Australia in which he grew up was also notorious for car accidents, and the younger Miller witnessed several himself. In order to help fund the production of the movie, which shot in 1977 and 1978, Miller spent three months carrying out emergency medical calls, with his producing partner Byron Kennedy driving the car....
